Although it's true that buildings are private property, the aspect of our cities is a public problem.- Bruno Taut, "Magdeburger Zeitung", 1921

[...] At the request of the major of Cervignano d'Adda I designed a plan for the exterior of the municipal building. The mayor asked me "to animate the square in front of the municipal building by painting the facade of the building itself".

[...] I created a gradient using three bands of color, from the most saturated to the lightest toward the sky and painted a depth illusion on the windows that makes the facade lighter.

I chose three shades of yellow as the colors for this project. Yellow, besides being the historical color of the area(*) is the most alive of the colors and it gives a feeling of lightness and happiness. Yellow is simbolically related to the pleasant warmth of the sun and, like the brightness of the sun, it's stimulating and radiant.

(*) Historically yellow is the most used color in the Po Valley in the north of Italy, because it contrasts with the long gray winters and the heavy fog.- LR
